About

Michaela Mae is a professional singer, musician, and music instructor with over fifteen years of performance experience. She is also the founder of The Folk Farm Music School in Sebastopol, CA where She teaches harmony classes, bluegrass jamming classes, guitar classes, and private lessons.

Michaela Mae embarked on her musical journey over 25 years ago, where she began taking singing and music theory lessons. For the past fifteen years, she has been singing professionally, lending her talents to folk, bluegrass, and jazz bands.

Having studied both classical and contemporary music techniques, Michaela finds her greatest passion in teaching roots (folk, bluegrass, and Americana) music. Along her musical path, she has also learned songwriting and picked up additional instruments such as the guitar, piano, and upright bass. Through her musical exploration, Michaela has come to believe that studying both singing and playing an instrument is vital for a musician’s growth.

Michaela has studied voice and somatic singing techniques for over 25 years and loves empowering others to sing and play with authenticity and expressiveness. She has earned over 45 credits in Music Education courses. She has served as a teacher with the Peace Corps and the Marin Public School system. She currently teaches private music lessons in-home and at Music to My Ears in Sebastopol and Cotati. She also teaches harmony classes at the Sebastopol Community Cultural Center and songwriting classes at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts. In addition, Michaela teaches family music classes for children ages 0-5 through Mini Music. In her personal projects, she collaborates with Wyld Iris and Miranda Mallard.

Lessons with Michaela are designed to be enjoyable, educational, and focused on developing well-rounded musicianship.
